Breeding Populations of Bald Eagles and Ospreys
Increasing numbers of bald eagles and ospreys are successfully breeding on Isle Royale, recovering from the declines once caused by DDT. In 1998, 14 eaglets were fledged from 9 active nests, and 7 young osprey were fledged from 7 active nests.
Lake-fishing Raptors
Watch for bald eagles and ospreys as they forage for fish out in the lake and along the shores.
The Wolves of Isle Royale
Isle Royale is renowned for its wolves, its moose herd, and its ongoing 42-year study of wolf-moose ecology -- the longest such study on Earth.
