You may find many campgrounds throughout the entirety of the forest and its surrounding areas. In Grand Mesa, most campgrounds are open from early July, after snow melts, to late September. Most of these campsites do not require reservation; they are first-come, first-served. For group camping at Eggleston Campground reservations must be made. In Uncompahgre, reservations are required at the Amphitheater Campground. In Gunnison, reservations are required for a handfull of campgrounds.
