Kootenai National Forest
There are 40 Forest Service campgrounds, with 696 units, throughout the Forest. Campground use is most popular in July and August but most sites are open as soon as they are snow-free in the spring. Many remain open through the fall hunting season. There are also two fire lookouts within the forest which can be issued to anyone 18 years or older, and are good for one to seven days depending on public demand for $25 per night.
