Lewis & Clark National Forest ![]() The Lewis and Clark National Forest is home to an innovative interpretive center. The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center imparts to the public a personal sense of President Thomas Jefferson's vision of expanding America to the west; it inspires awe and awakens curiosity toward the challenges faced by the expeditionary corps as members portaged the great falls of the Missouri River and explored the 'unknown'; it brings to life the daily experiences of the expeditionary corps and its impact upon the environment and native peoples of the 'uncharted west'; and it celebrates the indomitable spirit of human discovery. A Forest Visitor's map of each division is available at any of the Forest Service offices. The maps show the landownership patterns, the trail and road systems, recreation sites, and motorized vehicle opportunities and restrictions on the Lewis and Clark National Forest.
