Ike Kinswa State Park

Cowlitz Indians resided here and used an area above the bridge as a burial ground. Remains were removed before flooding by

the Mayfield Dam. Two marked graves containing three bodies were left and fenced for protection and preservation in 1974.

Originally named "Mayfield Lake State Park", the name was changed by the 1971 Legislature to honor Ike Kinswa, both as an

individual and as a representative of the original inhabitants of the area, the Cowlitz Indians.
