There is no backcountry camping in Mount Diablo State Park.
Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The park's Summit Visitor Center has quality exhibits and information on the park's geology, plant and animal life, and cultural history. The observation deck of the visitor center is a great place to see the million dollar view! The Mitchell Canyon Interpretive Center, run by the Mount Diablo Interpretive Association, is located at the south end of Mitchell Canyon Road in the town of Clayton. The Center hosts interpretive displays about geology, wildlife, trails, and plant life. Open Wed.-Sun.
Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: There are no food or supplies within Mount Diablo State Park. Both are available in the nearby communities of Concord, Walnut Creek, and Clayton.
Visitor Impact
The park is occasionally closed in the late summer and early fall on days of high fire danger. Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed in the park. Dogs must be leashed, and are only allowed in paved areas.
