Visitation
Highest in July and August; lowest in December.

Permits
Permits are required for all overnight stays in the backcountry. They cost $15 during the summer season and are obtainable from the Headquarters Backcountry Office and the Kawuneeche Visitor Center. Reservations are recommended, and can be made by mail or in person after 3/1. Call (970)586-1242 during the period 3/1-5/15 & after 10/1.

During the winter and early spring you may self-register at some trailheads, ranger stations, and entrance stations.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: The Headquarters & Kawuneeche Visitor Centers are open year-round. The Moraine Park Museum and Alpine Visitor Center are open May through mid-October. The Lily Lake Visitor Center is open June-August. The Never Summer Ranch and Corral Creek Information Station are open mid-June to Labor day. The Sheep Lakes Information Station is open mid-May to mid-August.

Programs: There are many ranger-led programs in the summer, evening campfire programs, and a special lecture series. Some ranger-led activities are offered year-round.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/Supplies: Food and supplies are available in the towns of Grand Lake and Estes Park. There is a snack bar at the Fall River Pass gift shop.

Concessions: Horse rentals and a gift shop are available during the summer. The Rocky Mountain Nature Association operates bookstores in each visitor center.

Visitor Impact
Call the park for current information on road and trail closures and conditions.
