Open year-round.

Visitation
Highest in June, July and August; lowest November to February.

Permits
Persons wishing to camp overnight in the backcountry must register and obtain a free backcountry use permit - entrance fees still apply.

Visitors Center and Programs
Visitor Center: Medora Visitor Center (South Unit): open year-round. Painted Canyon Visitor Center (South Unit): open April - mid-November. North Unit Visitor Center: open daily; weekends only Oct. - Memorial Day.

Programs: Programs include talks, evening campfire presentations, nature walks and long hikes, June - mid-September. Guided tours of Theodore Roosevelt's Maltese Cross Cabin in summer; self-guided during winter. Ski tours in winter, snow-permitting. Educational programs for schools and groups may be scheduled.

Food Supplies and Concessions
Food/supplies: None within the park; a variety of restaurants and grocery stores are available near the park or within a short drive.

2 main park roads may close in winter due to snow and ice.
