Big Oak Flat
Big Oak Flat is a pleasant forest and meadow area located about 20 miles from Yosemite Valley, at the junction of the Big Oak Flat Road and Highway 120. To see the giant Sequoias, park at the Tuolumne Grove parking area on the Tioga Road (Hwy 120) and walk the easy 1 mile down to the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. Snowshoes or cross-country skis may be needed in winter. Or take a 4-mile round-trip hike or ski jaunt into the Merced Grove of Giant Sequoias, which is located 3.5 miles north of Crane Flat and 4.5 miles south of the Big Oak Flat Road (Hwy 120 west). The trailhead is marked by a post labeled B-10, and by a road sign.
