Yellowstone National Park

Lake Village
Yellowstone Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the United States that is above 7,000 feet and is one of the largest such lakes in the world. Because of its size and depth and the area's prevailing winds, the lake can sometimes be whipped into a tempestuous inland ocean. Hayden Valley, located 6 miles north of Fishing Bridge Junction, and Pelican Valley, situated 3 miles east of Fishing Bridge, comprise some of the best habitat in the lower 48 states for grizzly bears, bison, elk, and other wildlife species.

Permit Information
Backcountry camping permits must be obtained for overnight stays. The ranger stations at Lake and Bridge Bay issue backcountry and boating permits.

Directions
The Lake Village region, located on the lower loop of Grand Loop Road, hosts the communities of Lake Village, Fishing Bridge and Bridge Bay. It is located 27 miles west of the East Entrance.

Information Center
The Fishing Bridge Museum and Visitor Center is located one mile off the lower loop of Grand Loop Road on the East Entrance Road. Ranger stations are located at Lake and Bridge Bay.
