Lake McDonald
Stands of western red cedar and hemlock are abundant in the valley of Lake McDonald. The wildlife-viewing here can be spectacular, with species including bighorn sheep, mountain goat, wapiti elk, black bear, and whitetail and mule deer.



Permit Information
Backcountry permits are required, and are available from the Apgar Visitor Center located just inside the park's west entrance.

Directions
Lake McDonald is located off U.S. Hwy 2, a short distance from the west entrance to the park.

Information Center
Apgar Visitor Center is located off U.S. 2 near the west entrance to the park.
