Zion National Park

Lava Point
The crisp mountain air in the spring is an invitation to explore Lava Point's high country. The dusty plateaus are a semi-forested tabletop whose ponderosa pine, fir, and quaking aspen provide shelter to hikers and wildlife and add a variety of rich and bright greens to the already colorful landscape of salmon-colored rocks, deep blue skies, and brilliant white snows.

Permit Information
$5 permits are required for overnight backcountry use. They are available at the visitor centers beginning at 8 a.m. up to one calendar month prior to the date of the hike.

Directions
From I-15, turn onto Hwy 9, which heads toward Zion Canyon. Before North Creek (and the park) turn left onto Kolob Terrace Road. Follow this road to one of the trailheads.

Information Center
There are two visitor centers: the Zion Canyon Visitor Center on Hwy. 9, and the Kolob Canyons Visitor Center off of Hwy. 15.
