Mount Rainier National Park


Carbon River/Mowich Lake
This region is home to Mowich Lake. A 22-mile drive on SR 165 from Wilkeson will take you to this lake, the largest and deepest in Mount Rainier National Park. The road is unpaved after the first three miles and may be rough.



Permit Information
Backcountry and wilderness permits necessary. Obtain from the ranger station at the entrance.

Directions
Enter the Carbon River Entrance in the northwest corner.

Information Center
There is a ranger station at the entrance, but the closest visitor center is in Sunrise.
