Hayward Ranger District
In the Hayward District there is an interesting settlement founded by a Swedish family. To reach this unique site you need to hike two miles into this non-motorized area along the North County Trail. The hike is worth it, for you can view the still-standing foundations and take a step into the past. This district has three camping areas to choose from.

Permit Information
No permit needed, but backcountry campers must camp at least 50 feet away from any trail or water's edge.

Directions
Located at the junction of US Highway 63 and State Highway 77.

Information Center
For information visit the Hayward Ranger Station.
