Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forest

Grand Mesa
Most campgrounds are open from early July, after snow melts, to late September. Seven of these campgrounds have water and trash pick-up. There are four picnic grounds for day use. The 10 mile circular Crag Crest National Recreation Trail and the 7-1/2 mile Crag Crest National Recreation Ski Trail provide scenic views from an elevation of more than 11,000 feet. There are many cross country skiing and snowmobiling opportunities on Grand Mesa. These include three groomed cross country ski areas and the Sunlight to Powderhorn snowmobile trail. Powderhorn Ski Area, located on the north slopes of the Grand Mesa, provides downhill skiing.
