Mount Evans
Most of Colorado's 14,000-ft peaks are just a short drive from major city centers, and the fourteeners of Colorado provide some of the most varied of alpine challenges in any mountain range. There are 54 fourteeners in Colorado alone, offering mountaineers a lifetime of adventures and challenges. While tremendous efforts in themselves, the fourteeners can also be good training grounds for bigger peaks around the world. Peaks like Mt. Evans are easily accessible and, during good conditions, can be a great introduction to mountaineering.
Permit Information
There is a $6 fee for driving up the Mt. Evans Road. A seasonal pass costs $15. Rangers collect the fee along Colorado 5 at Echo Lake.
