Bellenden Ker National Park

The wet tropics of NE Queensland have extremely high rainfall, ranging from 4000 mm near the coast to 1200 mm in the interior, falling mainly Dec.-March. Rainfall increases dramatically with increases in elevation, with over 9000 mm of rain falling on the high summit of Bellenden Ker. Average daily temperatures range from 31-23 degrees Celsius, and are roughly 5 degrees cooler in the June-August winter season. Higher elevations can drop to 9 degrees Celsius in the winter.

Be prepared for sudden thunderstorms and dense mountain mists at any time of year.
