Copper Canyon The Copper Canyon region is a vast 64,000-hectare realm of many different local climates. The Sierran highlands experience mild to cold conditions throughout most of the year, with summer rains and occasional heavy snows in winter. Summer temperatures average 20 degrees Celsius, while winter temperatures often drop below freezing. The weather in the canyon bottoms is very different, with warm winters, extremely hot summers, and torrential summer flows in the rivers and streams. Bring clothing suitable to the time of year and the terrain in which you will be hiking.
