In striving to achieve these two goals, Alaska Discovery has been awarded the following distinctions:

The 1978 Connie Award by the Society of American Travel Writers "for pioneering environmentally sound use of the southeastern Alaska wilderness."

Honored by the Alaska State Legislature in 1979 for "absolute minimum impact on flora and fauna" combined with "maximum visitor appreciation."

The 1987 Steller Award of the Juneau Audubon Society for "setting a high standard for commitment to protecting outdoor resources...emphasis on environmental education...and environmentally sensitive business practices."

In 1990 the Southeast Alaska Conservation Council awarded Alaska Discovery for outstanding efforts to conserve and protect the wildlands and wildlife that are the foundation of a healthy Alaskan environment and economy.

The 1996 Alaska Wilderness & Recreation Tourism Association's Ginny Hill Wood Award for outstanding contributions toward protecting the natural resources on which recreation and tourism depend.

The 1997 Navigator Award from the Juneau Convention and Visitors Bureau for contributing to local tourism.
